barbara chili openbarryThe 20th annual Utah Chili Open, the largest Rotary fundraiser in Utah, was a great 2-day success. ~ $4 million has been raised with and for local charities. We will distribute checks to our 7 charities on March 17.

Increasing Literacy - our Club leads statewide in dictionary distributions to 3rd graders. Local businesses donate dictionaries to help us. We also provide books to refugees, prisoners, and Boys & Girls Club.

"New Generations" - Sugar House Rotary invests heavily in youth programs to build our humanitarians of the future.

rotaractorsWe sponsor the community Rotaract Club with 35+ members ages 18 - 30. They are professionals and students from local colleges and universities.

We formed and mentor the Taylorville High Interact Club (ages 14 - 18) Many new Interact Club leaders received Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) scholarships from our Club.

Community Service Projects - Sugar House Rotarians ring the bells for the Salvation Army every year. We donate turkeys and food to the Utah Food Bank and support our Rotaract Club's refugee projects. We help maintain the Hidden Hollow area in Sugar House.

Leadership & Results - we are working toward a 2010 - 2011 Rotary Zone Award for Literacy (10 projects required) and Presidential Citation (meet 100% of goals).

rickOur members actively work in District 5420 leadership roles. The District Governor-elect (DGE) is Rick Cambra, who will be the youngest District Governor in the world! Others include Shirlene Bastar, Paula Bell, Dr. Wally Brown, Bev Christy, Errol EerNisse, Susan Marks, and Dr. Larry Wright.

Celebration & Recognition - on May 6, we will honor our Past-presidents and celebrate our 75th Club anniversary with Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith. Learn more about our Club history project by clicking here.
